Full Job Description

Central Manchester CAMHS is seeking to recruit a full-time Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner / Clinical Psychologist to take on a leading role within our well-established service.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of specialist interventions and high-quality clinical care within core CAMHS. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping service provision, supporting colleagues, and ensuring best practice in working with children and young people.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced clinician who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people's mental health and thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Join a supportive and established team committed to innovation, clinical excellence, and continuous service development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary Partnership team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health interventions to children, young people, and their families. This includes undertaking comprehensive mental health, risk, family, and social assessments, alongside formulation, case management, and therapeutic intervention in line with the THRIVE framework.

The role requires autonomous clinical practice within professional guidelines, ensuring safe, effective, and timely decision-making, particularly in complex and high-risk situations. The post holder will contribute to safeguarding, crisis response, and risk management, maintaining a strong focus on the needs and perspectives of children, young people, and families.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role includes supervision, teaching, and consultation to junior staff, students, and wider professionals, as well as active participation in service development, partnership working, and multi-agency collaboration across health, social care, education, and voluntary sectors.

The majority of the post holder's time will be dedicated to direct clinical work, while also supporting clinical governance, service evaluation, and continuous professional development in line with Trust policies and standards.
