Specialist CAMHS Practitioner / Assistant Practitioner

Brent CAMHS is seeking to recruit an dynamic individual to strengthen the Brent CAMHS team to support with clinical pressures within the team. This may entail providing high quality assessments to children and young people with mental health concerns as part of a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team, or supporting the team with the case management within one of our sub teams. You may also be allocated a caseload for therapy/intervention with CYP. This is a broad outline of support the team requires, and is dependent on your clinical background.

We invite applications from clinicians with various clinical backgrounds, depending on previous clinical knowledge and skills, as multiple short term positions are available, up until end of March 2027. This role is time-limited, to support with high demand within the service, to support with long waitlists.

The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

Please note this is a fixed role to support the Brent CAMHS team with clearing backlogs, not exceeding end March 2027.

To provide initial CAMHS mental health assessments drawing on professional training and experience and clinical skills.

To formulate and implement plans for the formal clinical treatment and/or management of emotional and behavioural difficulties of clients, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of these problems employing methods based upon evidence of proven efficacy within modality and with reference to appropriate clinical guidelines and care pathways (e.g. NICE, CEG).

The post holder will ensure CYP routine outcome measures are completed and include family members where appropriate.

To evaluate assessments and recommend treatment options with the wider MDT.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by standard care plans.

Assess and manage clinical risk to self and others for child and adolescent clients as an ongoing process.

The priority will be to support our backlog of CYP awaiting initial assessments, case management or delivering intervention/treatment, depending on your clinical/professional background. You will be supported by the sub- team lead and MDT.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident CAMHS Practitioner with a demonstrable track record of working within a CAMHS setting and evidence of providing high quality evidence-based CAMHS assessment, interventions and service improvements.

This role will be suitable for either Mental Health Nurse (RMN), a Learning Disability Nurse, Social Worker or Assistant Practitioner with CAMHS experience, with the appropriate professional registration.

The e-platform provides information to assist with making decision about starting medication for ADHD., · To provide initial CAMHS assessments drawing on professional training and experience and clinical skills as well as appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of evidence based sources including the use of routine outcome measures, rating scales, and semi-structured interviews with clients / families.

· To formulate and recommend plans for the formal clinical treatment and/or management of emotional and behavioural difficulties of clients, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of these problems employing methods based upon evidence of proven efficacy within modality and with reference to appropriate clinical guidelines and care pathways (e.g. NICE, CEG).

· Ensure routine outcome measures are completed and include family members where appropriate

· To assess and make recommendations about treatment options to the MDT, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.

· To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by standard care plans.

General:

· To maintain and promulgate the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures.

· To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.

· To support the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.

· To ensure all mandated and statutory training, professional registration / revalidation, supervision recording, appraisal and development standards are maintained as required within CNWL and the CAMHS ED Service Line.

· To adhere to Trust and local policies regarding annual leave, sickness and absence, and codes of conduct within the workplace to maintain a safe, effective and courteous professional environment.
