Full Job Description
The role of the Highly Specialist Mental Health Practitioner is to strengthen and enhance health provision for young people coming into contact with Warwickshire's Youth Justice Services. Clinically, the post-holder will be expected to conduct specialist assessments, direct therapeutic work, case management and professional liaison/consultation as necessary. The post holder will be expected to work closely within local and national Youth Offending/Justice Service (YOS) protocols., The post will be based with the Youth Offending Service in Warwickshire. The post holder will:
+ Act as a point of contact for young people in custody with unmet health needs, and colleagues within the Youth Offending Team who are concerned about a young person's mental, physical or sexual health.
+ Undertake direct specialist clinical work via holistic assessment, planning and evaluating interventions where appropriate.
+ Act as an interface between the Youth Offending Service, custody and specialist CAMHS, AMHS and other health providers.
+ Gather and report on outcome data relating to Health Team performance.
+ Undertake clinical supervision and mentorship for any other team member and students on placement.
+ Contribute to key training and interventions regarding health issues to young people, colleagues and the wider network.
+ Work within the parameters as directed by the criminal justice system.
+ Travel as required to a variety of settings to deliver health services to young people, including Young Offender Institutions, Secure Training Centers and other care environments.
