Full Job Description
Your role will require you to
- Team lead in a section of histology
- Rotate between all section in the specialty following departmental procedures
- Perform specialist histological techniques
- Quality control work leaving the laboratory
- Assist in training of staff
- Deputise for the senior biomedical scientist / section head
- Be involved in staff recruitment and appraisal.
- Assist with audit, and procedural change in line with the departmental quality management system., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

- Evidence of CPD Skills and abilitiesEssential criteria
- Knowledge of IT architecture in the running of complex analytical equipment and Laboratory Information Systems
- Practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic lab work.
- Good communication and presentation skills Desirable criteria
- Previous experience with equipment in use at OUH
- Previous experience in an NHS diagnostic laboratory, Knowledge and experience of all the basic techniques within histology, Previous team management, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
