Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a suitably qualified, experienced and HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in our Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department at Russells Hall Hospital site, as part of the BCPS. Our forward looking and dynamic department employs modern equipment and automated processes to deliver a quality routine service to the Trust. Our analytical platforms are currently provided by Sysmex UK for FBC and Werfen ACL350s for coagulation. Blood transfusion use the Ortho Swift analysers., If successful you will work in our routine automated sections in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Once fully trained, there will be a requirement to take part in the 24 hour shift working rota over 7 days. This includes evening, weekend, bank holiday and overnight work.

The successful candidate will be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with Specialist Portfolio or equivalent and have experience working in a clinical laboratory. Experience of working out of hours will be an advantage. HCPC registered candidates working towards their specialist portfolio will also be considered, but will be paid at band 5 until they have attained their specialist portfolio.
