Full Job Description

Midwife Band 7 (Interim) (Bereavement and pregnancy loss interim role for 10 months)

At Barts Health NHS Trust our local community is home to families from a diverse mix of ethnicity, social challenge and health needs. Whipps Cross Hospital is situated in East London, and we have easy access to very good public transport links. We provide Maternity services to approximately 4000 women per year.

Barts Health NHS Trust strives to provide the best care possible to all women no matter what their circumstances are. A priority of this is to provide care and support to women who have experienced a pregnancy loss.

Although this position is a 10 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 10 months., An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic midwife to coordinate our bereavement and pregnancy loss services on an interim basis for 10 months for women at Whipps Cross Hospital. We are looking for a highly motivated practitioner who has 2 years post registration experience, of which 1 year is in the acute Intrapartum setting. You will be expected to provide the highest standard in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised, holistic care to women who have suffered pregnancy loss in conjunction with the inter-professional team.

You will have good interpersonal skills and be competent in supporting women and staff during difficult circumstances. You will act as a professional role model and clinical teacher and have the passion and commitment to provide high quality care for women.

As an expert practitioner, the post holder will provide organisational, management and leadership to the maternity unit on all aspects of bereavement. You will work closely with the obstetric leads to review, evaluate and develop the bereavement and pregnancy loss clinics, services and processes.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain's leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
