Full Job Description

You will be fully competent in all aspects of routine audiology assessment and rehabilitation and will be confident working with patients with complex needs. You must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have some experience in training and supervision of junior team members and other staff. Exact duties will be dependent on your experience.

Experience in paediatric testing is desirable. We are also interested in applicants who have a keen interest in complex adult rehabilitation and tinnitus.

With a multidisciplinary team of 20 staff, the Trust wide Audiology Department serves a population of around 550,000 in County Durham and Darlington.

We provide a comprehensive diagnostic assessment and rehabilitative service for adults and paediatrics, including ENT support, Hearing Therapy, Tinnitus management, vestibular assessment and rehabilitation, Bone conduction Hearing Instruments, NHSP diagnostic assessment, paediatric rehabilitation, adult direct referral clinics, community paediatric assessment clinics etc. We are an AQP site (Any Qualified Provider) for the Direct Access of Hearing aids service.

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join our Audiology service providing a range of services across County Durham and Darlington. The post has a nominal base at the University Hospital of North Durham but the post holder will be expected to cover our various community and hospital sites. Applications will be considered from staff ready for a band 5 post and grade will be commensurate with experience., If you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the manager.

You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
