About this Role

Would you like a new challenge in an outstanding Special School for students and pupils between the ages of 3-11 with a range of Special Educational Needs in a friendly, supportive school, committed to team work and joint curriculum planning?

We are a primary maintained special needs school in the Local Authority of Harrow which caters for 136 pupils aged 4-11 with a wide range of complex and profound learning difficulties. These include severe autism, complex medical conditions, physical and mobility difficulties, as well as severe developmental delay.

We have outstanding purpose built facilities and highly trained, enthusiastic and committed staff. Along with teaching and classroom support staff, the school is supported by a multi-agency team of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy colleagues, teachers for pupils with vision and hearing impairments and nursing staff.

We are looking for someone who can:

• Plan and lead classes for pre-arranged sessions (e.g., teachers' PPA) and ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
• Lead classes at short notice, including having oversight of pupils' learning and wellbeing.
• Deliver high-quality lessons.
• Support other staff effectively.
• Work successfully as part of a team.
• Demonstrate a commitment to high expectations and meeting the needs of all children.

The successful candidate will have an HLTA qualification or equivalent, be working towards obtaining it, or be committed to completing it within a timeframe specified by the school. Have a passion for working with SEND children.

Hours of work will be 8.45 a.m. - 3.45 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 8.45 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Flexible working options are available.
