Full Job Description

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) will lead and coordinate the provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across the infant school. Working one day per week, the SENCO will ensure that children with additional needs receive appropriate support to help them achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

The postholder will work closely with the staff, parents/carers, external agencies, and school leadership to promote inclusive practice and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced teacher with the NASENCO qualification and a strong understanding of SEND provision and inclusive practice within a primary or infant school setting.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, experience of supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.

A passion for ensuring every child achieves their full potential, alongside a caring, proactive, and solution-focused approach, is essential.

We have high expectations of all our pupils and our aim is for every child to achieve their potential. Through our creative approach, our children experience a wide variety of opportunities. We are committed to developing our children to become thoughtful and confident individuals. The community is at the heart of our school and we have strong partnerships which enrich our children's learning.

This is a permanent, part-time position for one day per week, starting in September 2026.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that every child is supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within our caring and welcoming school community.

Salary will be in line with the appropriate teacher pay scale, dependent on experience, and will be pro-rated to reflect the part-time working arrangement.

Term time only: Yes

Salary type: MPS

Salary Details: Main Scale Pay Range 1 - 6 pro rata (FTE £32916 - £45352), depending on experience
