Magellan Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Spares Estimating Engineer. As Spares Estimating Engineer, the successful incumbent will manage the sales estimating and bid preparation activities for the Operating Division in conjunction with the Commercial Team In line with the diversification and strategic direction of the business across the value streams. - Oversee the preparation and compilation of bids for new business in response to requests for proposals for Spares and AOG items, ensuring this is completed accurately to required timelines.
- Liaise with Engineering, Finance and Purchasing teams in order to prepare robust proposals for customers which will maximise profitability.
- Assist in the development of best practice estimating processes such as standard cost modelling.
- Present bids to customers explaining costing principles.
- Working in conjunction with the Operating Division's management team, identify and develop new business opportunities from existing customers.
- Contribute to the development of long and short-term business through developing relations with various customers.
- Participate in commercial activities on behalf of the Operating Division, through contract preparation, liaising with Group Commercial Team.
- Conduct customer visits and reviews and develop long term relationships with key customers.
- Gather, analyse and interpret market intelligence and customer feedback on bids tracking successful vs unsuccessful, and recommend strategies which will enable the conversion of unsuccessful bids to secured new business opportunities in future.
- Maintain all relevant data in SAP.
- Support the Business Development meeting regime to discuss opportunities, progress and future direction.
- Review sales and estimating activities on a regular basis with the Management Team.
- Work with minimum amount of supervision and maintain good level of productivity.
- Positively support teamwork and circulation of experience.
- Work in a safe manner in compliance with company Health & Safety policy. Report and log Health & Safety incidents that occur.
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by management in support of the business
GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English. - Demonstrable continuous professional development.
- Considerable experience in the aerospace manufacturing, engineering and related industries.
- Experience within the aerospace industry. Understanding approvals, materials, processes etc.
- Demonstratable working knowledge of Tooling and manufacturing desirable.
- Formal management qualifications or certificates.
- Experience in quotation build up and preparing estimates desirable.
- Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office suite specifically excel
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of EFACS desirable but not essential
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Can read technical drawings and interrogate 3D models
- Driving improvements in the accuracy of forecasts and budgets
- Relationship management.
- Timely preparation of quotes to customers, at appropriate prices to secure new business
- Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with customers to secure new business opportunities.
