Full Job Description

To support our continued growth, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join our expanding team. The candidate will be given the responsibility of managing the requirements on a Front End Electronics sub-system project. This includes the flow down of top-level requirements to functional sub-sets, providing full links and requirement traceability using JAMA. There is the possibility that the Systems Engineer will work on multiple projects, depending on workload. The Systems Engineer role is responsible for managing and maintain the requirements set throughout the project lifecycle, using their expertise and experience to communicate with stakeholders regarding compliance of requirements and help define the validation and verification methods. The Systems Engineer must have a good multidisciplinary engineering understanding, to oversee and review the various inputs from functional engineering teams. Requirement status and associated technical risk management will be kept up to date throughout the project lifecycle. This includes the retirement of risk, and progressive sell-off of requirements. The Systems Engineer will provide critical support to the rest of the Project Team throughout the project lifecycle, particularly preparation of documentation for milestone reviews.,

  • Gather and document system requirements from stakeholders
  • Manage requirement set, maintaining the compliance verification matrix throughout with the use of JAMA
  • Flow down of requirements from system level to functional sub-sets, maintaining links and traceability.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to translate requirements into derived technical specifications where required.
  • Play a key role in preparation and collation of milestone datapacks.
  • Contribute to Engineering Management Plan, working closely with the Project Lead Engineer.
  • Help define the validation and verification methods of the requirements, linking to relevant test plans.
  • Generate waivers and requests for deviations against requirements when agreed with internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Project Team through major gate reviews by preparing documentation
  • Drive the strategy for progressive sell-off of requirements and reduction of technical risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Sub-contract work package management with support of relevant in-house experts.
  • Manage the technical risk/opportunities on a project and their mitigation/capture activities.
  • Delivery of system bids (in conjunction with bid team) and writing technical proposals.
  • Configuration Control of the technical aspects of the product and project.
  • Compliance of Front-End Electronics and Payload Systems to ECSS standards

  • Previous experience in the Space industry, preferably on Space Systems projects. Experience in Defence or Aerospace industries is also considered advantageous.
  • Space Electronics, or electronics delivered to high reliability specifications.
  • Experience with ECSS standards, especially with respect front-end electronics and payload systems. Experience delivering to Equivalent high reliability aerospace or defence standards is also advantageous.
