Full Job Description

Greenmeadow Community Farm has now been open for 8 months, and we're looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in continuing to develop and strengthen our busy, multi-outlet catering operation., As Sous Chef, you'll play a vital role in launching and supporting the leadership of a vibrant, multi-outlet kitchen operation at one of the region's most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
  • Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times
  • Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination
  • Working closely with front-of-house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions
  • Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high-quality food delivery
  • Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures
  • Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table
  • Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations, We work together as a team to lead by example, protecting the planet and supporting local communities.

    We're seeking someone who brings:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie
  • Background in high-volume, multi-outlet kitchens
  • Experience with events and wedding catering
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal, sustainable food
  • Strong team leadership and development skills
  • Solid financial awareness (stock control & suppliers)
  • Ability to stay organised and calm under pressure
  • Flexibility to work 5 out of 7 days, including evenings/weekends, Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
  • A strong background in wedding and event catering-you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution
  • A track record of supporting, training, and motivating kitchen teams to maintain consistently high standards
  • Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination
  • Excellent coaching and delegation skills-you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service
  • An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
  • Strong menu execution, planning, and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to work 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and evenings as required by the operation
