Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to qualify as a solicitor whilst gaining a degree. You will initially be supporting our residential team, and have the option to spend time in various departments/teams across the business over a six year period., This apprenticeship is available at our Birmingham office to start in August 2023, and is a six year level 7 programme. You will work four days a week and spend one day a week studying towards the LLB in Legal Practice and Skills with the University of Law. Study is by blended learning and all of your tuition/assessment fees will be paid. What work will I do? The apprenticeship will give you real-life experience of working in a commercial law firm and the tools to become a competent solicitor. Typical activities include:
- Managing data/records
- Reviewing documents
- Drafting and producing legal documents and standard forms
- Assisting with the inception, progress and completion of client files
- Carrying out research
- Handling confidential and sensitive information
- Understanding and utilising basic financial information
- Communicating (written and verbal) with internal and external clients
The below academic grades are required by the course provider (University of Law): - 3 A levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above (predicted or achieved)
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, Passion, drive and commitment to become a solicitor
- Effective communicator, able to establish and maintain harmonious and professional relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and be able to manage own time effectively
- A proactive, professional, resilient and flexible approach to work
- Ability to work on own initiative whilst maintaining a positive team spirit at all times
- Able to adopt a common sense approach with attention to detail
- Keen to develop over a period of time with a willingness and ability to learn
