Full Job Description

Are you a recently qualified solicitor or barrister? Whether you have just completed your training or gained some post-qualification experience as a Paralegal, and want to engage with a diverse range of cases, this could be the next role for you.

In this role you will open the door to continuous development through invaluable learning opportunities within our team, making the most of your experienced colleagues. As the legal foundation for different Council teams, you'll play a crucial role in providing legal insights, across an engaging blend of cases. We pride ourselves on having a positive, collaborative team culture where knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and mutual support are strongly encouraged.

Based primarily at County Hall in Trowbridge, the role offers hybrid working arrangements to ensure the right equilibrium for you and the service, and there may be occasions where you need to attend court in person.

Extensive experience is not a requirement - we're interested in potential. If you're adept at research, analysis, and communication, coupled with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you're exactly the person we're seeking. This includes applications from candidates who are in the process of completing their qualifying work experience and SQE qualifications as a Solicitor.

This position comes with a 15% market supplement payment. All market supplement payments are subject to review on an annual basis.

Why us?
Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Find out more about Our Identity, staff networks, and employee benefits at our careers page https://jobs.wiltshire.gov.uk/

Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer-facing roles work entirely from their service location.

We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.
