Summary
Our client is building a Law Firm Digital Twin: a working simulation of how a law firm operates, built from the firm's own data. Data from the firm's operational systems (practice management and finance, HR, client onboarding, time recording) is mined into event logs; a discrete event simulation is built and calibrated from those logs; and the firm's financial statements are reconstructed on top, so the effect of an operational change can be quantified before it is made. This role owns the product layer: the modelling studio where process models are built and edited, the scenario and experiment engine, executive dashboards, and exports. The stack is TypeScript end to end: Next.js (App Router, server components), React, Bun, Tailwind, Zustand, Recharts and d3 for charts, Postgres with row-level security for multi-tenant isolation. Development is AI-assisted as the standard working method, in a small team where everyone ships.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build the product: the interfaces where the simulation and its data are explored, edited and presented.
- Own features end to end, from interface through server and database to deployment.
- Build the data visualization: charts and views that carry quantitative meaning for senior non-technical readers.
- Keep the product multi-tenant, configurable and maintainable as the client base grows.
- Ship continuously, with tests as the safety net, and contribute to what gets built, not just how.
Key Skills & Experience
- Above all, someone who has done analogous work: you have shipped data-dense analytics, BI or simulation product interface, where the charts carried real quantitative meaning and wrong rendering meant wrong decisions.
- A mid-level product engineer who ships end to end. Feature from intent to production personally: interface, server, schema, deployment. Shipped products with small teams count for more than years.
- Strong modern TypeScript. Fluent in the current Next.js generation (App Router, server components, edge versus node trade-offs) and React, with a preference for simple, conventional code.
- Genuine data comfort. Confident SQL and Postgres, including row-level security; able to follow a number from warehouse to chart and notice when it is wrong.
- Data-visualization judgement. Charts for non-technical executives, built with precision and restraint, in forms that fit the data.
- AI-assisted engineering as a habit (Claude Code or similar), staying current as the tools change, with judgement about where not to trust it.
Nice to Have
- BPMN-JS or other diagramming and canvas work
- Simulation, process-mining or operations-analytics products
- Multi-tenant B2B SaaS; Supabase
- WorkOS
- Professional services or legal-sector products
