Full Job Description

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the AAT Duty Team, supporting effective decision-making, prioritisation and risk management.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
  • Provide professional supervision, mentoring and coaching to team members and students where appropriate.
  • Hold a small but complex caseload, including individuals with autism and/or ADHD whose circumstances require specialist social work intervention.
  • Offer expert advice, guidance and consultation to colleagues, partner agencies and stakeholders.
  • Promote excellent strengths-based social work practice.
  • Support safeguarding activity, including guidance on complex safeguarding enquiries and risk management.
  • Contribute to practice development, quality assurance and continuous improvement across the service.
  • Demonstrate strong legal literacy and understanding of statutory duties and relevant legislation., Gain valuable leadership and management experience within a specialist countywide service.
  • Develop enhanced knowledge and expertise in autism and ADHD.
  • Receive regular supervision and support.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of a specialist service.

    We are delighted to offer an exciting 12-month secondment opportunity for an experienced and motivated Advanced Social Worker to join Devon County Council's Countywide Autism and ADHD Team (AAT). This is an excellent opportunity for an existing Devon County Council Social Worker looking to further develop their leadership skills, broaden their specialist knowledge, and contribute to shaping high-quality practice across a countywide specialist service.,
  • A recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience within Adult Social Care.
  • Experience working with complex adults' cases, including safeguarding.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Ability to provide clear professional guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Commitment to strengths-based practice and positive outcomes for people with autism and ADHD.
