Full Job Description
Haringey Council is recruiting two Social Work Officers to support a targeted project within Adult Social Care, focused on reducing safeguarding waiting lists and managing associated risks. These roles will form part of a newly funded Safeguarding Waiting List Reduction Team and will work under the guidance of qualified social workers and managers.
You'll support safeguarding enquiries, complete Care Act-related tasks, gather information, and contribute to coordinated multi-agency responses.
Key Responsibilities
Support Section 42 safeguarding enquiries through delegated tasks
Gather information, complete proportionate visits, and liaise with adults, carers and partner agencies
Contribute to safeguarding screening and threshold decisions
Undertake Care Act needs assessments, reviews and carers' assessments under supervision
Identify and record risks, escalating concerns promptly
Support the development and review of safeguarding and safety plans
Engage adults and families using a person-centred, outcome-focused approach
Maintain accurate, timely case records and documentation
Work collaboratively with police, health, housing and voluntary sector partners
Support Mental Capacity Act processes (excluding capacity assessments)
Manage an allocated caseload within defined boundaries
Participate in supervision, reflective practice, audits and service improvement activity
Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, adult safeguarding and Making Safeguarding Personal
Experience supporting safeguarding work and contributing to risk identification
Skilled in gathering, recording and summarising information
Confident working with multi-agency partners
Able to engage sensitively with adults and carers, including in situations of distress or risk
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a busy environment
