Social Media Executive

Support organic social delivery: - Deliver daily organic social activity across priority channels including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and emerging platforms. - Maintain the content calendar so planned posts reflect marketing activity, trade priorities, seasonal moments and agreed campaign plans. - Schedule and publish approved posts, checking copy, links, tags, timings and assets before they go live. - Manage channel housekeeping, content uploads, caption drafting and hashtag research. - Adapt content formats for each platform while following Matalan's tone of voice and visual identity. Content creation, filming and editing: - Create simple graphic assets, short-form video, Reels, TikToks, Stories and behind-the-scenes content using approved guidelines and templates. - Film product launches, campaign moments, store activity, events and reactive opportunities, working with internal teams where needed. - Edit platform-ready video with captions, music, transitions and simple text overlays. - Produce quick-turnaround content in response to trends, customer conversations and product priorities. - Keep content files, briefs, approvals and asset folders organised and easy for the wider team to access. Monitoring, community and channel support: - Monitor comments, messages, mentions and tagged content, flagging opportunities, risks and customer queries to the right teams. - Draft community responses in line with agreed guidance and escalate sensitive or reputational issues where required. - Track competitor activity, creator formats and platform updates to identify new content ideas. - Share relevant channel observations with the Social Media Manager and wider marketing team. Stakeholder support: - Work with internal and external partners to support smooth social delivery, including: - Social, PR and influencer teams - Brand, creative and content teams - Product, trade and commercial teams - Online, store and events teams where relevant - External partners, creators and agencies where required Reporting and continuous improvement: - Pull key metrics from platform insights, scheduling tools and social listening reports for weekly, monthly and campaign updates. - Share initial observations on performance, customer response and channel trends to inform future planning. - Bring platform updates, social best practice and content inspiration into team discussions. - Support budget tracking for Social activity, including raising purchase orders, monitoring spend and keeping records accurate.

Experience supporting social channels, ideally within retail, fashion, home, lifestyle or a fast-paced consumer brand. - Strong understanding of organic social platforms, formats and audience behaviour. - Confident creating simple graphic assets and short-form video, with strong attention to detail. - Experience using scheduling, publishing or planning tools, alongside platform-native insights. - Good copywriting skills with the ability to draft captions and community responses. - Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working to deadlines
