Full Job Description

Your role: As Social Media Editor you will create high-impact content that drives audience growth, e-commerce success and supports commercial opportunities. . Focusing on Instagram and TikTok as the key channels, you will lead hands-on production of video, including pitching ideas, writing scripts, filming both in-office and on-location, and editing polished video assets. Additionally, you'll produce eye-catching carousel posts designed to spotlight trending products. This is a freelance role, situated within The Sun's eCommerce department. Day to day you will:

  • Execute a video-first strategy to expand our reach and follower base by spotlighting the unique personalities and expertise of our eCommerce and editorial teams.
  • Produce high-quality, platform-optimised video and imagery designed specifically to drive e-commerce conversions, affiliate clicks, and traffic.
  • Lead the social execution of our commerce content, gift guides, and product reviews to maximise affiliate revenue and drive e-commerce growth.
  • Work closely with the editorial team and the commercial team to align social output with campaigns and publication calendars, all the while focusing on native social platform growth
  • Monitor and report on audience metrics and advocate for the best possible visual storytelling

    Social expertise: Proven experience producing social content. Demonstrable experience putting people at the centre of the video production is preferable
  • Strategic mindset: Develop and execute our social media strategy with support from the wider team, and become the go-to for our team on social media for e-commerce
  • Short-form video expertise: Skills in filming and editing short-form video
  • Live commerce experience: Experience producing or hosting live streams and live shopping events (e.g., TikTok Shop, Instagram Live) is advantageous.
  • E-commerce track record: Demonstrated success in driving measurable revenue through social media, specifically via affiliates or direct-to-consumer sales
  • Technical proficiency: Advanced knowledge of video editing software and social commerce tools. Experience with affiliate platforms is a significant advantage.
  • Stakeholder management: Experience working between editorial and marketing or commercial teams, with the ability to balance advertiser needs with the expectations of a discerning audience.
