Slinger Lift Supervisor

As a Slinger Supervisor based at HM Naval Base Portsmouth, you will play a key role in supporting maintenance, repair, and manufacturing activities for military and commercial customers. Working across the Load Test Facility and afloat environments, you will safely deliver planned and reactive lifting operations while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and operational performance. You will lead lifting activities from planning through to completion, carrying out a range of slinging, fleeting, and overhead crane duties. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, you will use your technical expertise, lifting experience, and digital tools to support the safe and efficient movement of loads across a variety of projects. Core duties:

• You will maintain compliance with PUWER and LOLER regulations, applying safe systems of work throughout lifting operations
• Carry out and support lifting activities using a range of lifting equipment, including chain blocks and overhead cranes
• Lead and supervise complex lifting operations, ensuring activities are delivered in accordance with approved lift plans
• You will apply and interpret crane hand signals in line with BS 7121, promoting safe and effective communication
• Ensure you work collaboratively within teams undertaking high-risk, intermediate, and complex lifts in maritime and facilities environments
  
  Understanding of the responsibilities and interfaces between Appointed Persons and Lift Supervisors within lifting operations
• Hold recognised Slinger/Signaller and Lift Supervisor certifications, with practical experience in lifting activities
• NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualifications and/or demonstrable experience in lifting and load movement operations
• Considerable knowledge of lift categorisation, with the ability to distinguish between intermediate and complex lifts and apply the appropriate controls

Salary: up to £35,000 dependant on skills & experience
