Full Job Description

The postholder will be expected to provide analytical and improvement-focused leadership, not simply administrative coordination. The emphasis of the role will be on identifying priority issues, designing and supporting targeted interventions, evaluating impact, and ensuring that evidence leads to practical change for students and staff.

The successful applicant will be expected to have a doctoral degree in a subject related to medical science (for example epidemiology, public health, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics etc). The candidate should have experience of teaching medical students or health professionals and they should show a commitment to developing as a medical educator across a range of subject areas (with appropriate training). In addition, candidates should have experience of setting and marking assessments of various types, with clear evidence of organisational, administrative and IT skills along with a sound understanding of quality assurance and enhancement issues, procedures and practices. Professional qualifications such as a recognised Higher Education teaching qualification or Higher Education Academy Fellowship would be advantageous.

The University of Buckingham has a unique atmosphere, unlike that of any other higher educational institution. Despite being one of the UK's smallest university and the only independent university to hold a Royal Charter, Buckingham has staff from over 25 countries, making it a truly distinctive work environment. Whichever of our locations you find yourself working in, you will be sure to feel a part of our friendly community. Our size enables us to foster a very personalised, supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment, with lots of opportunity for development, something which we are very proud of. The university is keen to build on its strengths to further enhance the teaching and research culture and is looking for a candidate who shares similar knowledge and research exchange ambitions and is keen to make a notable contribution. By joining our passionate and active team, the candidate can expect excellent support in their teaching, research, knowledge exchange and scholarly activity. The postholder will provide EDI leadership across key areas of programme delivery, including curriculum, assessment, admissions, placements, student support and educator development. They will bring together existing activity, identify priorities, undertake analysis, support targeted implementation, and ensure that progress is captured, evaluated and reported through appropriate Faculty and University governance routes.

We might be small, but we can still offer plenty of perks! In addition to an Aviva Pension scheme, we offer:

  • Beautiful working environments across our campus in Buckingham with plenty of space
