Skilled Worker

We are looking for a Skilled Worker to join our day to day team based in Rochford. As a Skilled Worker you will be responsible for supporting the team of 20 to deliver a responsive maintenance and repairs services to our residents. Working alongside other Operatives, the role will include collecting rubbish, moving materials, fetching and carrying, ground works, fencing, laying slabs, painting, and general works across several sites across Rochford, Basildon and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking individual with a broad skill set across multiple trades, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and general maintenance. The role of Skilled Worker will include:

• Carrying out construction, fault fixing and maintenance duties to help the Operatives on site
• Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and stocks are replenished as needed
• Providing accurate and timely information on progress of jobs
• Collection of rubbish and debris from work areas and dispose in the skip
• Ferrying of materials to and from the work area
• Assisting the operatives with works occasionally and any lifting etc
• Collection and transportation of larger materials on occasions, We work closely with the Home Office in order to prevent unlawful working.
A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check will be necessary in the event of a successful application which we will pay for. Sanctuary Maintenance Contractors Limited is a subsidiary of Sanctuary Housing Association, an exempt charity.


• Relevant experience in a similar role
• Working knowledge of the application of Health and Safety legislation
• Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
• Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling
• Good communication skills
• This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
