Full Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Working Supervisor with a joinery background looking for a long-term freelance assignment. The Role The works involve the refurbishment of a large bespoke residential property, including extensive internal alterations, adaptations and associated external works. The project has a construction value of approximately £475,000. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project, overseeing all aspects of the refurbishment and ensuring works are completed safely, to a high standard and in accordance with the construction programme. The project will involve extensive internal alterations, including new kitchens, bathrooms, associated building works and adaptations throughout the property. With a maximum of eight operatives on site at any given time, our client is looking for a Working Supervisor who comes from a joinery background and is comfortable assisting with practical works when required. This is not a position where you will be expected to work on the tools all day. Your primary responsibility will be managing the project, coordinating trades and ensuring works progress efficiently. However, given the size of the project, you must be willing to get involved with joinery and general site works when necessary. Your responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day management and coordination of subcontractors and trades on site.
- Overseeing internal refurbishment, alteration and adaptation works, including kitchens, bathrooms and associated building works.
- Carrying out joinery and general site works when required to assist with the progress of the project.
- Managing site Health & Safety and ensuring works are completed safely and to the required quality standards.
- Monitoring progress against the construction programme and coordinating materials, deliveries and subcontractors.
- Liaising with the Contracts Manager regarding progress, site requirements and any issues arising.
- Overseeing quality control, snagging and finishing works throughout the project.
Previous experience as a Working Supervisor or Site Manager, ideally within residential refurbishment. - A strong joinery background with practical, hands-on experience is essential.
- Experience managing internal refurbishment, alteration works and multiple trades.
- Willingness to assist with joinery and general site works when required, whilst maintaining overall responsibility for the project.
- Strong organisational, communication and man management skills.
- SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work.
