Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a Site Investigation Technician to join a growing team supporting a variety of ground investigation and environmental projects across the UK. This is a hands-on field-based role involving soil, rock, and groundwater investigations to support construction, engineering, and environmental projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, geologists, and site teams to deliver high-quality site investigation services safely and efficiently., Fieldwork & Sampling

  • Carry out site investigations including soil, rock, and groundwater sampling
  • Assist with drilling operations, trial pits, and borehole logging
  • Operate and maintain site investigation equipment and testing kits
  • Conduct in-situ testing including soil density and permeability testing
  • Support CCTV surveys and monitoring activities
  • Data Collection & Reporting
  • Accurately record field data, measurements, and site logs
  • Prepare site notes, sketches, and reports
  • Ensure samples are correctly labelled and transported
  • Support engineers and geologists with site data collection
  • Health & Safety
  • Follow all site health & safety procedures and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and company standards
  • Correctly use PPE and maintain safe working practices
  • Report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly
  • Equipment & Team Support
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and tools
  • Assist with site setup and demobilisation
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and contractors
  • Support project delivery to agreed deadlines and quality standards

    Previous experience within site investigation, construction, groundworks, or a similar field-based environment
  • Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work
  • Essential Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel to various site locations
  • Ability to carry out physical/manual work
  • Desirable
  • CSCS card
  • Experience with trial pits, boreholes, or soil sampling
  • CCTV survey or monitoring experience
  • Relevant qualifications in Geology, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science
