Full Job Description

The successful candidate will manage site purchasing and material coordination, ensuring orders meet the project's technical, programme and budgetary requirements and that materials are available when needed.,

  • Order materials in line with project supply chain agreements and specified technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with site operations, take-off, logistics and stores teams to confirm material requirements, stock levels and delivery schedules.
  • Oversee material deliveries to site, ensuring all required items are available at the correct time.
  • Maintain commercial awareness of the project, keep purchases within agreed budgets and promptly coordinate potential overspends with the commercial team.
  • Source competitively priced materials outside existing supply chain agreements, with direction from the Procurement Manager or wider procurement team.
  • Monitor material usage and identify excess or surplus stock for prompt removal from site.
  • Process and clear supplier invoices promptly to support positive supplier relationships.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly checks to ensure purchasing records and supporting paperwork remain accurate and up to date.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, construction professionals, suppliers and site teams, and provide regular updates to the Operations Manager.

  • Second-level education with strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Desirable
  • Third-level education with strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • An interest in pursuing a construction or business qualification.
  • | EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE | Essential
  • At least two years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a construction environment.
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience managing material orders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience purchasing against project budgets and technical requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with supply chain, site operations, logistics, stores and commercial teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical material rates.

  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work on time with minimal supervision.
  • Organised and structured approach to managing purchasing activity, records and competing priorities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to secure best value while meeting project requirements.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, supported by clear communication.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a varied workload.
  • Confident and enthusiastic use of IT systems, with the ability to work independently and maintain accurate purchasing information.
