Site Assistant

The role New College Pontefract is seeking a full-time Site Assistant to join our Estates Team on a permanent basis. In this practical, hands-on role, you will help maintain the college's buildings and grounds while ensuring the security and safety of the site. This will involve:

• Assisting with implementing security arrangements for buildings and grounds
• Supporting site safety arrangements, including ensuring students exit safely at the end of the day
• Conducting contractor site inductions and supervising contractors on site
• Taking responsibility for opening and closing college buildings
• Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance
• Maintaining a tidy and litter-free environment across the site
As a Site Assistant, you will work as part of a team on a rota basis, covering early, days, late and flexi shift patterns. Please note these shift patterns will also require you to work weekends every four weeks. The shift patterns are as follows:
• Early 7:00am - 3:00pm
• Flexi 9:30am - 5:30pm
• Days 8:30am - 4:30pm
• Late 12:00pm - 8:00pm

About you We are looking for someone with previous experience in general maintenance work who can meet the physical demands of the role. Reliability, flexibility, and a customer-focused approach are essential, as is the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Confidence in using a variety of basic DIY tools and equipment is also required.
