An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated team on Ward F16. Ward F16 is a dynamic 15-bedded inpatient emergency gynaecology ward with a 4-bedded designated day case unit, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to women requiring urgent pregnancy and gynaecological assessment, treatment and surgery. We receive emergency admissions from the Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EGU), Emergency Department and neighboring healthcare providers. Our day case unit supports an urgency theatre service five days per week, delivering timely surgical care for our patients. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Registered Nurse who is passionate about emergency gynaecology and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. We are looking for someone who is committed to delivering outstanding patient care while inspiring, supporting and developing others within the team., You will be expected to:

  • Provide visible clinical leadership and act as an excellent role model for nursing practice, professionalism and compassionate care.
  • Support the Ward Manager in maintaining high standards of quality, safety and patient experience.
  • Coordinate the fast paced clinical area, ensuring effective patient flow and timely delivery of care.
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence, demonstrating confident decision-making and effective team leadership.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture where staff feel valued and empowered.
  • Support, supervise and develop registered nurses, nursing associates, healthcare support workers and students, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence.
  • Facilitate education, mentorship and clinical competency development to ensure staff achieve and maintain high standards of practice.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, audit, governance and evidence-based practice to continually enhance patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless, patient-centred care.
