Full Job Description
SDMA is a dynamic service delivering rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision-making foremergency same-day medical patients. The unit operates7 days a week, 07:00-22:00 Mon - Friday and 07:00 - 19:30 on Weekends, SDMA plays a key role in supporting patient flow, avoiding unnecessary admissions and delivering high-quality acute medical care. This is afast-paced and clinically demanding environment, caring for patients who are often undifferentiated on arrival. As a senior leader on the unit, you will provideprofessional, clinical and operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care in line with Trust values, national standards and local pathways. The post holder will takeshift leadership responsibility, coordinating patient flow, workforce management and clinical priorities, and will work closely with the multidisciplinary team. You will be supported byBand 6 team leaderswho oversee areas of the unit.
This role is ideal for a senior nurse who thrives in acute care, demonstrates strong leadership behaviours, and is passionate about developing same-day emergency services and supporting staff development. The leadership element of this role is essential and candidates must be able to demonstrate their skills to: - Be a role model / effective leader - Exercise leadership skills to act as a catalyst for change. - Develop and co-ordinate effective team working - Communicate on a regular basis with team regarding trust objectives, plans & business developments This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, experienced and dynamic nurse to drive the improvement and success of the emergency department.
