Full Job Description
Supporting the implementation of Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems
-Carrying out site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations
-Assisting in developing and reviewing RAMS and safe systems of work
-Supporting incident and near-miss investigations, focusing on root cause and prevention
-Promoting a strong safety culture and encouraging workforce engagement
-Monitoring environmental performance, including waste, emissions, and pollution prevention
-Supporting quality assurance and compliance with project specifications
-Maintaining accurate SHEQ records and supporting internal and external audits
-Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, and SHEQ training sessions
-Acting as a trusted advisor to site teams and management
Experience in a SHEQ or Health & Safety role within civil engineering or construction
-Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations
-NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
-Ability to work independently with a proactive, solutions-focused approach to risk management
-A hands-on, practical mindset with strong attention to detail
-Confidence working on-site and engaging with operational teams
-A collaborative approach, with the ability to challenge unsafe behaviours constructively
-Full UK driving licence
Desirable (but not essential):
-Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH / CertIOSH or working towards)
-Experience working on infrastructure, highways, utilities, or major civil engineering projects
-Familiarity with ISO management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
-Experience in incident investigation and auditing
