Full Job Description

The client is a lady living in her own home in Kettering. She has an acquired brain injury. She has a team of personal assistants and is looking for another worker to join her team. You will enable the client to lead as active and fulfilling life as possible, whilst building up her level of independence. You will support her continued independent life, enabling her to enjoy her pastimes and also to assist her to explore and expand her leisure opportunities and activities. Main Duties

  • Assisting with personal activities, e.g. minimal personal hygiene
  • Assisting with domestic activities; meal preparation, laundry and money management etc.
  • To aide with a home cognitive therapy programme which might include strategies to improve orientation, short term memory loss, sequencing and planning.
  • Light household duties, i.e. vacuuming, laundry, cleaning of surfaces etc to ensure a clean and tidy household.
  • Assisting the employer with shopping (including the planning of shopping trips, making shopping lists and visiting the shops to purchase items required)
  • Accompanying the employer on local trips and outings, ranging from walks in the park to going to the theatre or to the pub for a meal.
  • To help the employer gain confidence in the use of public transport.
  • You will be required to drive the client's Motability vehicle, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.
  • Any other task which the client may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

  • Have an ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be able to work flexibly.
  • You will report directly to the Team Leader, however, please note you will be directly employed by the person who has power of attorney for the client. North Northamptonshire Council is not the employer. You will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be borne by the Employer. Sponsorship cannot be provided by individual employers. Your right to work in the UK must be confirmed already.
