Full Job Description
The current Counselling programmes at Kingston College sit within the Wellbeing Section as part of the Commercial Industries and Access School. This includes a BA (Hons) Integrative Relational Counselling degree, a Mental Health degree and study programme, as well as part-time adult courses at Levels 2 and 3, and a Level 4 Diploma. Our introductory courses are currently accredited by NCFE (Level 3) and CPCAB (Level 2). The Counselling degree programme holds prestigious BACP accreditation and is validated by Middlesex University.
We're now seeking a Sessional Lecturer in Counselling to teach on the Level 4 adult part-time daytime courses (Tuesdays and/or Thursdays), with the potential to contribute to other Counselling programmes.
Our ideal candidate will hold a professional qualification in Integrative Relational Counselling or Psychotherapy (minimum Level 6 Diploma or Honours degree). You'll be a registered member of BACP, UKCP or an equivalent UK professional body, with at least three years' post-qualification experience and accreditation (or a willingness to work towards this).
You'll have recent experience of teaching Counselling at Level 3 or above and be confident in assessing both written work and practical skills. A teaching qualification is essential, along with either a supervision qualification or experience of providing supervision to individuals or groups within a counselling or life coaching context.
You'll be a creative, resourceful and effective educator, able to communicate knowledge clearly while supporting, challenging and motivating students. You'll demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to plan, prepare and manage administrative responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package is pro-rated for part time staff.
