Full Job Description
Our Repairs and Maintenance team is seeking an experienced Service Manager to join the Guinness Property team in Havant. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week, covering operational hours between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday, plus Saturday mornings. Later shifts and Saturday coverage are shared on a rota basis. This role leads and supports an area-based operational team in delivering a high-quality Responsive Repairs service. You will drive performance, ensure excellent customer outcomes, and maintain high standards of service delivery across the team. We currently operate a hybrid working model, combining office, site-based and home working. A works van will be provided for business use. As this role covers Portsmouth, Waterlooville and the surrounding areas, the successful candidate should be based within these locations or within a reasonable commuting distance to support operational requirements effectively.
You will have experience leading, managing and developing operational teams, together with a strong understanding of building construction, social housing repairs, and relevant health and safety legislation. You will also have practical trade experience, supported by a relevant NVQ or City & Guilds qualification.,
- Up-to-date knowledge of building construction, maintenance, repairs, and safety legislation.
- Experience leading, managing, developing and motivating teams.
- Strong knowledge of housing sector best practice and relevant legislation.
- Experience of subcontractor management.
- Proven ability to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused repairs service.
- Experience using repairs management information systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and improve operational team performance.
- A commitment to demonstrating the Guinness Behaviours. Desirable skills and experience
- Experience working as part of a management team delivering frontline services.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills. Qualifications: Essential
- Relevant technical qualification, such as a Trade NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3 in First Line Management. Desirable
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
