Full Job Description

We're AuDHD Psychiatry - a fast-growing UK private psychiatry service specialising in ADHD, autism, and AuDHD assessments. We operate fully remotely and we're building out a serious digital team.
We need a senior WordPress developer to become a core, long-term part of that team. This is a retained freelance arrangement with a guaranteed minimum of 3 days per week - consistent work, real ownership, and a team that knows what it's doing.
️ The role
This splits across two areas and we need genuine strength in both.
Technical - GTM and GA4 setup, conversion and event tracking, tag QA and debugging, Core Web Vitals and page speed (real fixes, not caching plugins), redirect chains, crawl and indexing hygiene, staging environment management, and controlled staging-to-live workflows. Everything staging-first. Nothing straight to live.
Frontend builds - converting Figma designs into pixel-accurate, fast-loading WordPress pages in native Gutenberg. Clean HTML and CSS. No Elementor. No Divi. We have an active design pipeline with multiple landing pages moving through design into build right now.
What the work actually involves
The immediate priorities in order:
1. Staging environment - create and manage a working copy of the live site. All work happens here first. You'll keep it in sync with live and push approved changes across in controlled steps, one at a time.
2. Tracking and analytics - audit the current GTM and GA4 setup, configure conversion and event tracking for enquiries and bookings, verify every tag fires correctly, and report clearly on what's working and what isn't.
3. Conversion foundations - map the full enquiry and booking path end to end, ensure every step is tracked, and confirm data lines up between the site, GTM, and GA4.
4. Technical fixes - page speed and Core Web Vitals, redirect cleanup, crawl and indexing issues, general site hygiene. We already have a prioritised task list ready to share.
5. Controlled go-live - push approved changes from staging to live one at a time, check each one after it goes out, and keep a clear log.
6. Handover - document everything you set up and hand over access cleanly so work can continue with or without you.
Frontend landing page builds sit alongside this - Figma designs are already in progress and pages need building to spec on staging before going live through the same controlled process., Deep WordPress experience: themes, plugins, hooks, template architecture, staging workflows- GTM and GA4 from scratch: container setup, conversion tracking, event tracking, tag debugging- Core Web Vitals: genuine performance diagnosis and fixes, not plugin installs- Figma-to-Gutenberg: precise, performant, mobile-first page builds from provided designs- Clear communicator who documents work properly and hands over cleanly- Experience working retained with a single client - you understand what that relationship looks like and you value the stability it offers
What this is not
Not a content role. Not a design role. Not a full-stack application build. The focus is WordPress technical implementation and clean frontend build quality from provided designs.
The setup
Minimum 3 days per week guaranteed, freelance retained, fully remote. Some weeks may involve more depending on pipeline - we'll always give you visibility in advance. You'll work alongside our SEO team and report into our Head of Growth. Day rate open - tell us what works for you.
