Full Job Description
Your main role will be to ensure the Theatre Stores department is adequately stocked in all areas, thereby facilitating the smooth running of theatres ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care. You will work closely with the entire stores team within the department to maintain stock levels, by performing stock reads and ordering appropriately as needed. You will need to supervise the team in the absence of the Theatre stores manager., To ensure the department is adequately stocked in all areas thereby facilitating its smooth running and excellent patient care. The role will involve physical activities, such as manual handling, as well as an ability to use bar code readers and computers. Full training will be provided for these activities.
As an essential part of the Senior Stores Assistant is the ability to communicate with a wide range of people within the Trust.
To lead the Stores Team to liaise with HSDU staff and theatre teams to ensure that the required sterile instrument trays and supplementary items are available for use in the theatre session at the required time. To ensure a good line of communication is maintained with HSDU at all times with regards to urgent items, next day sets and instruments, out of action, awaiting repair and expected dates of return to service.
To offer the highest standard of customer care to patients, visitors and other service users, adhering to Departmental guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and the Trust's Code of Values & Behaviours., 1. To deputise and support the Theatre Stores Team Leader and act as the responsible member of the team seeking help when necessary.
2. To attend meetings in person or via teams if required.
3. To be the first point of contact for Stores, presenting a professional, calm and confident manner in line with the Trust's Values & Behaviours.
4. To provide a full Stores service to operating theatres including communicating verbally with all members of the multidisciplinary team within the hospital.
5. To participate in and undertake appraisals in accordance with the Trust's appraisal procedure.
6. To answer the telephone and deal with all enquiries to the service in a professional, efficient and empathetic manner.
7. To work within the storekeeping team to ensure cover is continuous within period of annual leave and sickness to meet service needs.
8. To ensure work is prioritised and completed in a timely manner as requested by the Business Support Manager.
9. To fully participate as a member of the Theatre Team and demonstrate effective communication with colleagues.
10. To adhere to the waste disposal policy in the safe storage of equipment and goods within the theatre environment.
11. Adhere to the waste disposal policy ensuring that junior staff are fully conversant with it.
12. To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service including weekends and Bank Holidays as required.
13. To undertake the necessary training associated with the role and to maintain a satisfactory level of knowledge and competencies.
14. To transport items safely and to time consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
15. To adhere to safe moving and handling techniques whilst transporting equipment/items.
16. Check stock levels and order in the correct manner, this includes all theatre storerooms (Orthopaedic & Omnicells containing implants)
17.To raise requisitions to order direct from the companies.
18. To chase queries, check deliveries and identify any discrepancies with orders through procurement and/or the supplier.
19. To communicate with company representatives if needed.
