Senior Technology Design Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Technology Design Engineer to lead the delivery and assurance of highways technology solutions across major infrastructure programmes. You'll act as a technical authority, owning design outputs from concept through to implementation, driving right-first-time delivery, and ensuring solutions are compliant, integrated and future-ready. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a key role in delivering ITS, communications and smart infrastructure systems aligned to National Highways standards.,

• Take ownership of design outputs from concept through to implementation?
• Drive multidisciplinary integration across civil, electrical and systems teams?
• Lead design assurance, reviews and compliance with governance frameworks?
• Communicate technical risks and solutions clearly to clients and stakeholders?
What will you be responsible for? As an Senior Technology Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Technology Design team, supporting them in delivering high-quality highways technology design solutions. Your day to day will include:
• Leading the delivery of complex technology design (ITS, communications, power) from concept through to implementation
• Owning design outputs, ensuring solutions are buildable, maintainable and right-first-time
• Acting as technical authority within design assurance, leading reviews, checks and gateway approvals
• Ensuring compliance with DMRB, National Highways and industry standards, managing technical risk
• Providing SME leadership across ITS, communications networks and smart infrastructure systems
• Driving multidisciplinary integration across civil, electrical, mechanical and systems teams
• Acting as a key technical interface for clients, leading workshops and stakeholder engagement
• Supporting programme delivery through reporting on progress, risk and performance
• Driving continuous improvement, digital engineering and BIM adoption
• Leading input into bids and developing innovative, compliant and competitive solutions
• Mentoring and developing engineers, building team capability and high-performance culture
  
  HNC/Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering or equivalent relevant field?
• An experienced highways technology engineer with strong ITS expertise?
• Confident leading design delivery and technical assurance activities?
• Knowledgeable in National Highways standards (e.g. DMRB) and governance frameworks?
• Comfortable acting as a technical authority across complex projects?
• A strong leader who can mentor and develop engineers?, Are Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering
• Have significant experience in highways or infrastructure technology design
• Have proven experience leading design delivery and assurance activities
• Have strong knowledge of National Highways standards and governance frameworks
With technical expertise in:
• ITS infrastructure and systems integration
• Telecommunications and IP networks
• Power and control systems
• Design assurance and approval processes
• Multidisciplinary coordination and systems integration
