Senior Structural / Civil Engineer - Nuclear Infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of critical infrastructure for nuclear projects across the UK and internationally. This is not a nuclear science or reactor technology role. Instead, we are looking for engineers with experience designing the physical structures and infrastructure that enable nuclear facilities to operate safely, including reinforced concrete structures, steel-framed buildings, foundations, equipment support structures, seismic-resistant systems and safety-related facilities. Based in Glasgow or London, you will work as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering solutions for nuclear new-build, plant improvement and infrastructure modification projects. The position will primarily involve office based engineering work, with occasional travel to project, client or plant locations. The Opportunity As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and specialist expertise across a range of nuclear infrastructure projects.,

• Leading the structural design of nuclear and safety-critical facilities.
• Developing structural engineering concepts from feasibility through detailed design.
• Delivering reinforced concrete and structural steel designs for buildings, plant structures and supporting infrastructure.
• Producing structural calculations, design reports, specifications and technical documentation.
• Supporting the design of foundations, equipment supports, platforms, access structures and containment-related infrastructure.
• Reviewing and assuring technical outputs to ensure quality and compliance.
• Coordinating closely with mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation engineering teams.
• Supporting design reviews, constructability assessments and engineering assurance activities.
• Managing engineering deliverables in line with project schedules, budgets and quality requirements.
• Providing mentoring and technical guidance to developing engineers.
• Interfacing directly with clients, project teams, contractors and stakeholders.
  
  We are particularly interested in candidates who understand the engineering challenges associated with designing the infrastructure of complex industrial and nuclear facilities.

• Experience using industry-standard structural analysis software will be advantageous.
• Demonstrable structural design capability for complex facilities or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering design assurance and quality processes.
• Experience preparing technical reports, calculations and specifications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

• Knowledge of design standards relating to nuclear structures is beneficial., To be successful in this role, you will typically possess:
• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• Typically five years' relevant structural or civil engineering experience.
