Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Private Care at Guys, part of London Bridge Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished chemotherapy nurse looking to further develop their leadership skills while continuing to deliver hands-on, specialist patient care within a leading cancer service.
Rated Outstanding by the CQC, our cancer centre is recognised for excellence in oncology and haematology care. The Chemotherapy Day Unit provides a modern, patient-focused environment with 19 treatment chairs and a safe nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, enabling nurses to provide high-quality, personalised care to patients undergoing complex cancer treatments.
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will combine advanced clinical practice with shift leadership responsibilities. You will assess, plan and deliver individualised care to oncology and haematology patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), immunotherapies and other specialist infusions. You will also play a key role in supporting and mentoring colleagues, contributing to service development, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety., As a Senior Staff Nurse within the Chemotherapy Day Unit, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to oncology and haematology patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), immunotherapies and other specialist infusions. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised treatment plans, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care at all times.
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will take a lead role in the day-to-day running of the unit, providing visible leadership and supporting the coordination of patient care throughout each shift. You will act as a role model for junior staff, offering guidance, mentorship and clinical support to promote professional development and maintain high standards of practice.
You will work collaboratively with consultants, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless patient experience and optimal clinical outcomes. The role also involves contributing to quality improvement initiatives, supporting clinical governance activities and promoting a culture of patient safety, continuous learning and service excellence.
