About the Role
The Lexcel-accredited Legal Team provides legal advice, assistance, and support to Council officers, elected members, and external clients at all levels. With a supportive and positive working culture, Telford & Wrekin Council offers this exciting opportunity for a one-year fixed-term contract to protect some of our most vulnerable residents.
About Telford & Wrekin
Telford & Wrekin has a history of ambition and innovation. Home to the historic World Heritage site of Ironbridge, the birthplace of the industrial revolution, and today one of the fastest-growing boroughs outside London, it boasts an unmatched reputation for attracting inward investment and growth. Two-thirds of the borough are rural, offering access to green spaces, while Telford town centre is a regional destination with vibrant nightlife and a premier retail offering.
Telford & Wrekin Council is ambitious, being one of the first authorities to become a "commercial Council" to secure income and protect frontline services. Our investment has led to children’s and adult safeguarding services being ranked as "outstanding" by OFSTED and the CQC, respectively. We work diligently with our community to make Telford a great place to live. We were named the MJ Authority of the Year in 2022 and APSE Council of the Year in 2021.
Team & Working Pattern
The Safeguarding team operates on a hybrid working pattern, with an expectation of two days in the office in Telford, currently Wednesdays and Thursdays. Applicants are required to be qualified solicitors with a valid practicing certificate.
Our Commitment
We believe great services start with great people, reflecting our community. At Telford & Wrekin Council, everyone belongs, and every voice matters.
