Senior Software Developer / Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer (Leadership) to join our software engineering team at our Farnborough facility. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical mentorship while contributing to the execution of our software engineering strategy.,

• Support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and hands-on support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects on time and within scope
• Assist in the professional growth and mentorship of team members through regular feedback, coaching, and career development planning
• Contribute to the execution of the software engineering strategy, participating in strategic discussions and technology assessments
• Manage project tasks and assignments, helping to prioritize and plan work to meet project goals and deadlines
• Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure efficient project execution
• Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, working to resolve issues as they arise
• Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to maintain code quality and best practices
• Support the recruitment and onboarding of new team members
  
  You will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team., Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience)
• Minimum 6+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering and development
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a similar technical leadership or mentoring role
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming with hands-on experience in production environments
• Strong proficiency in Linux operating systems (system administration, kernel knowledge, or application development)
• Proficiency in Python programming with experience in real-world projects
• Strong programming and debugging skills across multiple languages
• Demonstrated experience with software development methodologies and best practices (e.g., Agile, Scrum, CI/CD)
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to learn and grow in a technical leadership role, Advanced degree (Master's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Relevant certifications or training (e.g., Agile/Scrum Master, cloud certifications)
• Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with software architecture and design patterns
• Knowledge of security best practices and secure coding principles
• Experience with embedded systems or systems programming
Security Clearance UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility is mandatory for this role. Candidates must be:
• Sole UK nationals (no dual nationality)
• Holders of a valid British passport
• Continuously resident in the UK for the past 5 years
