Full Job Description

As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform a full range of lung function investigations in our adult service. We are currently performing full lung function testing, capillary blood gas sampling, and sleep studies including multichannel, transcutaneous CO2 monitoring and limited polysomnography.

You will need to have an excellent understanding of diagnostic sleep testing, analysis of respiratory sleep studies and CPAP treatment including titration, trouble shooting, advice and maintenance.

You will also be expected to play an active role in the education and training of respiratory physiology trainees as well as other healthcare professionals including physiotherapists, nursing staff, medical students and junior doctors. You will also be given the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by line managing and taking a key role in the development of the assistant physiologist and trainee respiratory physiologists in the department. Appropriate support and training will be offered.

The successful candidate will need to be an experienced, friendly and highly motivated person with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to providing a high-quality service is essential.

A Clinical Physiology BSc or equivalent is required with at significant experience as a Band 5 Clinical Physiologist. ARTP Part 1 and 2 are desirable. The appointee should be RCCP/AHCS registered or working towards registration.
