The post is a one year fixed term 1.0 WTE position for a Senior Research Nurseworking predominantly in delivery of research within the Barts T&O team at BartsHealth NHS Trust, the Bone & Joint team at Queen Mary's University of Londonand the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Barts.The purpose of this post is to facilitate recruitment to and the management of theDIRECT Study: Delivery and Implementation of a Randomised Cluster CrossoverTrial on Thrombosis (NIHR 159321).DIRECT will determine whether a first-line thromboprophylaxis managementstrategy including aspirin is non-inferior in terms of clinical effectiveness andsafety, and cost-effective, relative to a first-line VTE thromboprophylaxismanagement strategy including low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in adultsaged over 60 years with a hip fracture. It is a cluster randomised controlled trialwhere data collected will be from routine data sets. With a total of 94 centres, thispost will need to liaise with thromboprophylaxis
committees and orthopaedicteams at each site so that each hospital is fully understanding of the trial and theneed for it. The postholder will be the central point of contact for these teams. Thepost holder will be a core part of the study team, working with haematologistsacross the UK to enable the policy change and to be a primary contact for clinicalquestions.
