Full Job Description

Joining us as a Senior Recreation Assistant, you will supervise the day-to-day operation of our Arena facilities, coordinating a small team of Recreation Assistants to ensure a safe, efficient and welcoming service.

You'll support the smooth running of the facilities, including setting up equipment, overseeing bookings, undertaking reception duties and responding to customer enquiries. You'll also carry out risk assessments, report hazards and maintenance requirements and ensure facilities and equipment are clean, safe and ready for use. Working with Recreation Assistants and work placement students, you'll ensure duties are carried out effectively and in line with procedures, liaising with Facilities and Administration teams where required and providing cover within the fitness gym.

You'll also act as a key point of contact for customers, responding professionally to concerns or complaints while maintaining high standards of customer service, health and safety and College policies.

We'd like our Senior Recreation Assistant to have substantial experience of working within a sport or leisure facility and hold a Level 3 Personal Training qualification. You'll have good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, with the confidence to supervise a small team of Recreation Assistants and organise and prioritise both your own workload and that of others.

You'll be a flexible and supportive team player who enjoys working with the public, with good general IT skills and a willingness to work evenings and weekends when required. A current First Aid qualification would be desirable, or you'll be willing to work towards one.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 27 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees' physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.

As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

The South Thames Colleges Group is made up of Carshalton College, Kingston College, Merton College and South Thames College, which merged on 1 August 2017. South Thames Colleges Group is one of London's largest providers of post-16 education and training and is an ongoing and significant contributor to its local communities. We aim to put students' success at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for hard-working and collaborative people who can join our team and help challenge our students to achieve and progress.

£30,559 - £33,299 per annum, plus up to 40 days + bank holidays
