Full Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Senior Radiographer to join our hard-working, dynamic team.

We are a forward-thinking department and carry out a wide range of examinations. We are busy and well equipped. Based at Lymington New Forest Hospital (LNFH) with satellite services for US and Xray at Hythe and Romsey. The department at LNFH is equipped with 4 digital x-ray rooms, one with an OPG unit, a multipurpose fluoroscopy suite, mobile image intensifier, wireless mobile x ray unit, DEXA suite, two ultrasound rooms, along with one CT and one MRI scanner.

We operate an extended day service across 7 days a week, so the successful candidate would need to be able to take part in a rota which will include working weekdays, weekends with an on-call commitment.

LNFH is a busy, community hospital with an Urgent Treatment Centre, situated just outside the attractive Hampshire town of Lymington, situated on the south coast well known for its sailing facilities and the New Forest National Park. It is in proximity to both Southampton and Bournemouth with good road, rail, air links. We work closely with the acute Trusts of Winchester, Southampton and Bournemouth.

There is free on-site hospital parking for staff. The department is located on the ground floor with windows overlooking the forest wildlife. The department has a comfortable, bright staff room and has the option of outdoor seating during the summer months.

Main duties of the job

To work as a senior member of the radiography team at Lymington New Forest Hospital and the satellite sites at Hythe and Romsey, using initiative, skills, and knowledge to provide an efficient and high quality, patient focussed imaging service whilst dealing with patients and managing patient priority in a caring professional manner

To promote and encourage the highest professional and technical standards in all staff and students using personal example and constructive supervision

To have an interest in all aspects of diagnostic radiography and an ability to develop skills in new technology and alternative imaging modalities for example CT, MRI and Ultrasound

To have an interest in developing and leading educational training sessions to staff and students

Maintain a commitment to continuing professional development and a high level of technical and theoretical skills ensuring a personal CPD portfolio of evidence is kept up to date

To participate in the Governance of the department including X-Ray equipment Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Health and Safety and Audit activities

To participate in extended day working as required (e.g., 08:00 to 18:00)

To participate in the on-call out of hours service (e.g., 17.00 to 08.00) provided to the Urgent Treatment Centre and hospital wards at LNFH
