ROLE: Senior Protection & Control Engineer
At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day. We're looking for a Senior Protection & Control Engineer who will lead the technical delivery and design of HV and EHV protection and control systems for renewable and utility scale infrastructure projects.
Role Responsibilities
+ Provide day to day technical leadership and management of a protection and control engineering team, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of HV and EHV substations up to 400kV.
+ Lead the design, specification and configuration of complete protection and control systems, including setting project specific protection philosophies and ensuring compliance with Grid Code, ENA G99, DNO and TSO standards.
+ Review tender and contract documentation, define protection scopes of work, and deliver high quality technical documentation, drawings and calculations throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Act as technical authority across projects, resolving engineering challenges, coordinating multi disciplinary interfaces, and ensuring right first time delivery aligned with quality assurance processes.
+ Mentor and develop junior engineers, embed CDM 2015 principles, and promote safety and sustainability by design across all engineering activities.
+ Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
+ Significant experience (10+ years) designing HV and EHV protection and control systems from 11kV to 132kV and ideally up to 400kV.
+ Strong working knowledge of British and international standards, including Grid Code, ENA G99, and DNO/TSO requirements.
+ Proven experience leading or technically managing specialist electrical design teams.
+ Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and the designer's role under CDM.
What's in it for you?
+ The opportunity to lead technically complex, high impact HV and renewable energy projects.
+ A collaborative working environment with a strong focus on technical excellence and professional development.
+ Hybrid working with long term career progression in a growing engineering function.
