Full Job Description

Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to support residents to live safely and independently through high-quality occupational therapy interventions. This role will manage and deliver complex housing-related OT assessments and recommendations, while also providing professional supervision and support to junior OTs, Physiotherapists and OT Assistants. The post sits within the Reablement and Independence Service and works closely with housing, health, social care and partner agencies. The successful candidate will hold a small complex caseload, chair MDT and planning meetings, support service development and help maintain high professional standards across the team. Important - Please Read Carefully This role requires HCPC registration, a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification, staff supervision experience, and a full driving licence with daily access to a car.,

  • Deliver complex housing-related Occupational Therapy assessments and recommendations
  • Supervise Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and OT Assistants
  • Hold a small caseload of varying complexity
  • Chair MDT meetings, planning meetings and case conferences where appropriate
  • Support the OT Service Manager with work allocation, team performance and service development
  • Monitor case recording, written communication and KPI performance standards
  • Support staff through supervision, appraisal and development
  • Work in partnership with health, social care, housing and other agencies
  • Audit casework and service activity to ensure high standards
  • Support transfer of cases across integrated pathways
  • Provide shift cover if required, including one weekend every 5 weeks

    Recognised BSc / MSc / Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
  • Good assessment and recording skills
  • Experience working with a wide range of ages, pathologies and disabilities
  • Ability to work with health, housing, partner agencies and voluntary sector colleagues
  • Experience managing complex cases involving long-term conditions and disabilities
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, national guidance and best practice
  • Strong communication, time management and case prioritisation skills
  • Ability to support best practice and service improvement
  • Full driving licence and access to a car on a daily basis
  • Physically able to carry, transport and fit equipment within manual handling guidelines
  • Desirable
  • Previous experience working in a Community OT team
  • Additional Information Enhanced DBS and barred list check for Children and Adults will be required.
