Full Job Description
The postholder will provide a high standard of physiotherapy across a range of clinical settings, delivering safe, effective, and patient centred care. They will independently manage a diverse caseload of patients with varying diagnoses and levels of complexity, using evidence based assessment and treatment approaches to plan, implement, and evaluate physiotherapy interventions within a defined clinical area.
The postholder will be expected to work autonomously while contributing to the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring that all clinical decisions and actions are made in the best interests of the patients under their care. They will uphold professional standards, promote high quality practice, and support the delivery of an efficient and responsive physiotherapy service., The postholder will independently carry out advanced physiotherapeutic assessments for patients presenting with a wide range of complex physical and psychological conditions. They will provide clinical diagnoses and develop individualised, evidence based treatment programmes tailored to each patient's needs.
The role includes responsibility for managing a defined caseload and working autonomously within a designated area of the service or with a specific patient group. The postholder will rotate between specialist clinical areas and will receive support through regular supervision, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, and case discussions. Advice from a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will be available when required, although day to day clinical work will not be routinely supervised.
As a specialist autonomous practitioner, the postholder will undertake all aspects of clinical duties and contribute to the development of high quality physiotherapy practice. They will also supervise, educate, and assess physiotherapy students to graduate level, working in partnership with universities to ensure teaching and practice standards meet degree level requirements.
The postholder will participate in evidence based audit and research activities to enhance both their own practice and that of the wider team. They will be expected to make recommendations for service improvement to the Clinical Lead or Head of Service based on audit findings and emerging best practice.
