Senior Occupational Therapist

This is an opportunity to work for an internationally renowned Centre of Excellence for Parkinson's Care, multi-disciplinary team. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for assessment and rehabilitation treatment of patients with Parkinson's and related Atypical Parkinson's conditions. These patients will have complex physical and non-motor difficulties along with Psychological impact on their condition. You will also be responsible for training and supervision of junior and assistant staff and students, but also be a point of contact for Specialist advice for acute and community staff.Main duties of the job To perform advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions To develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes to patients To hold responsibility for own caseload, working without direct supervision. To delegate work to Band 5 therapists and support staff To supervise, educate and assess the performance of Occupational Therapy students. To be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, liaising and working with other Trust staff in the management of the patients' care appropriate to the service area To participate in the training and supervision of Juniors and support staff, as well as other professionals within the acute trust and community trusts To work and liaise with external agencies for example Integrated Community Equipment Services as required To undertake routine administrative tasks as agreed with Senior staff To undertake ongoing responsibility for specific tasks as delegated by Senior staff for example work experience programme
