Full Job Description
As a News Taxonomist (Senior Data Discovery and Enrichment Expert I), you will help shape how global news and business content is structured, discovered, and understood. Working with advanced taxonomy frameworks and AI-supported workflows, you will play a key role in improving classification accuracy, content relevance, and insight generation across LexisNexis products.,
- Design, develop, and maintain taxonomy structures across subjects, industries, geographies, people and events
- Create and refine classification rules (including synonyms, variants, and scope guidance) using proprietary systems
- Review and revise classification to optimise precision and recall
- Analyse global news and business content to identify emerging topics and maintain taxonomy relevance
- Research and define new concepts, ensuring clarity and consistency
- Use AI tools to support knowledge work and taxonomy workflows, and assess outputs for quality and accuracy
- Contribute to standards, documentation, and best practices
Relevant degree or equivalent experience in library, information, or knowledge-focused work - Demonstrated interest in global news, current events, business, economics, or geopolitics
- Strong research capabilities and an aptitude for quickly understanding unfamiliar topics
- Excellent command of language, including the ability to distinguish subtle conceptual nuances
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Understanding of AI capabilities and how they can be leveraged safely and ethically in knowledge work
- Customer-centric mindset
- Experience in taxonomy development, metadata management, or content classification
- Good technical ability and an aptitude for learning proprietary taxonomy systems
- Knowledge of Agile working methodologies
- Proficiency in additional languages
- Experience working in remote or distributed team environments
