Full Job Description
As Senior Manager, Data Privacy & Records Management, you'll play a key role in helping Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) protect personal data, manage records and enable the responsible use of data across a complex and highly regulated environment. Operating within the CIB COO Data Office, you'll provide expertise on privacy and records management, support strategic decision-making and help enable the safe adoption of emerging technologies, including AI. You'll work across business, technology, risk, change and control teams to balance regulatory obligations with innovation and transformation across multiple jurisdictions and legal entities. You'll join a highly visible team at the centre of CIB's data agenda within a business area that continues to receive significant investment. - Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on Data Privacy and Records Management, helping teams meet regulatory, policy and control requirements.
- Support the development and delivery of the CIB data strategy, operating model and regulatory priorities, embedding effective Data Privacy and Records Management practices across the business.
- Represent the CIB COO Data Office in Group and cross-business forums, helping shape standards and policy implementation.
- Maintain oversight of privacy and records management compliance, ensuring legal, regulatory and policy requirements are effectively embedded across CIB.
- Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge across risk assessments, control performance, incidents, issues and remediation activities relating to Data Privacy and Records Management.
- Lead Data Change Governance across the Business Unit, ensuring privacy and records management requirements are embedded into change delivery.
- Provide oversight and challenge for material data programmes, transformation initiatives and AI use cases, ensuring risks are identified and managed appropriately.
- Own and continuously improve delivery of the Data Privacy and Records Management service, ensuring agreed standards, obligations and outcomes are consistently met.
- Influence decision-making through credible expertise, constructive challenge and practical recommendations across CIB.
- Shape and contribute to Executive, Committee and Board-level reporting, helping senior leaders make informed decisions on privacy, records management and regulatory risk.
- Build organisational awareness and capability through guidance, communications and coaching, whilst leading and developing team members to create clear priorities and opportunities for growth.
Significant experience, typically gained over 8+ years, in Data Privacy, Records Management and Data Governance within a large, complex and regulated organisation, ideally within Financial Services. - Strong understanding of data protection legislation, privacy principles, records management requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Curiosity and knowledge of AI, analytics, cloud technologies and digital transformation.
- Proven experience supporting complex change initiatives, data programmes or transformation activity within a regulated environment.
- Strong influencing skills, including experience working with senior leaders up to GEC-1 level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing materials for Executive, Committee and Board-level audiences.
- Strong analytical thinking, judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory and policy requirements into practical business actions.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, ideally with 3+ years of people leadership experience. We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds.
