Full Job Description
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Senior Clinical Fellow (Registrar Grade) in Urology for a one-year maternity cover position starting 5 August. The successful candidate will primarily be based at Wythenshawe Hospital and Withington Community Hospital, while also contributing to services across other Trust sites as required. The post forms part of the Trust's developing Single Urology Service, designed to standardise clinical pathways and improve patient care across the organisation. The role is strongly focused on delivering high-volume urological diagnostic and outpatient services, including flexible cystoscopy, prostate diagnostics, transperineal biopsy pathways, and urodynamic investigations, with training opportunities provided where appropriate. The successful candidate will also participate in the urology on-call rota, MDT working, outpatient clinics, and regular theatre sessions. The postholder will play a key role in supporting rapid-access diagnostic pathways, reducing waiting list backlogs, and helping the Trust meet national performance targets. Alongside clinical duties, the role includes involvement in teaching, audit, quality improvement, governance, and service development initiatives. This position offers excellent exposure to modern urological diagnostics and multi-site NHS service delivery within a large teaching trust committed to quality, innovation, research, and education.,
- Deliver high-volume urological diagnostic services, including flexible cystoscopy and support for prostate diagnostic pathways, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Participate in the urology on-call rota and provide inpatient and outpatient urological care across multiple Trust sites as required.
- Undertake outpatient clinics and diagnostic procedures, including flexible cystoscopy, transperineal prostate biopsy, and urodynamic investigations, with training provided where appropriate.
- Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and clinical decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
- Participate in theatre sessions and support operative urological activity.
- Contribute to service improvement, audit, quality improvement projects, and pathway redesign initiatives.
- Support the teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, clinical governance standards, infection prevention protocols, and national clinical guidelines.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and colleagues to ensure a high standard of patient experience.
- Engage in appraisal, continuing professional development, and professional practice review in line with GMC and Trust requirements.
